Date: 1 Apr 2021

The beginning of this section is the famous Lung Tsai Ng Yuen, a private Chinese landscaped garden only accessible by hiking. There is a large pond with lotus and a lot of fish inside, with also a zigzag bridge. Unfortunately it is not properly maintained and there is also a sign warning that the dam of the pond might be unsafe.

This section of Lantau trail is very easy and short, with the distance post ranging from L051 to L054. The initial part is quite flat and while there are some loose rocks, the track is easy. Soon you will reach a branch, with the right leading down back to Keung Shan Catchwater, so we should proceed straight.

There is a small stream soon and crossing it the trail continues its easy section, and with some shades it is comfortable even in the hotter weather. Looking on the right when the trees thin out you can also see Ling Yan Monastery.

Then you will find yourself starting to go downhill, which is quite steep. Do pay attention especially during wet weather to avoid slipping. Otherwise, the descend is easy and in no time you will see the houses of Tai O in the distance, as well as the HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge further out.

Finishing this section at Nam Chung Village, our friend who live in Tai O recommended a good place for lunch - Hoi Wan Vegetarian Restaurant. Unfortunately it was not open on the day so we decided to head to Tai O Heritage Hotel instead. Next time we will come back to try it out.
