Wineshark HK Restaurant Review - Lung Dim Sum 龍點心

To name a type of cuisine to represent HK dining culture, most people would agree it is dim sum. But with the vibe to innovate, there are an effort to modernize, not only in the food itself, but also the restaurant and its style. Today we came to Lung Dim Sum in Kwun Tong, near my office, to enjoy lunch on a public holiday.

The use of bright colours, and the mascot characters at the entrance was a way to show having dim sum could be fun and for young generations. Inside, the set up was the familiar HK café style, with booth seats and tables. Decors of tradition mosaic floor tiles pattern and scissors gate cleverly brought back the old memories.

Ordering several dim sum on the day, we started with Rice Roll with Beef 牛肉腸粉 ($40). The rice roll was thin, and the beef was seasoned well, and the plate had the soy sauce and chili oil on the side so that the rice roll did not get soggy. A good one.

We liked the idea of a combo including Chicken Feet and Beef Tripe 鳳爪拼黑椒金錢肚 ($48), so that we did not need to order each separately and worried not having room for other food. The tripe was tender and my favourite among the two.

Trying also the traditional Hau Gou 筍尖蝦餃皇 ($44), the dough was nicely done, thin and transparent. The shrimp was sweet and bouncy in texture, with some bamboo shoots added to enhance the texture. Another good one.

Continuing the traditional dim sum, the BBQ Pork Bun 笑口叉燒包 ($32) was also good, with the fillings good in taste, and the bun was fluffy and soft, with the signature bursting appearance that got my mouth watering when it was served.

Another important dim sum that is featured in all restaurants, we also tried Fried Glutinous Rice Dumpling 一口鹹水角 ($39) but changing them to bite size. The fillings were delicious in taste, with the dough got an appetizing chewy texture.

The restaurant had several different types of siu mai, and we picked Tea Plant Mushroom Pork Siu Mai 茶樹菇豬肉燒賣 ($39). The pork had the right proportion of fat and lean meat, with the mushroom giving an extra fragrance.

While it was packed on the day, and the staff was very busy, the service was decent and everyone was helpful. The bill on the day was $293. Considering the food quality and overall dining experience, I would rate this restaurant a Good 68 points, worth trying.
