Wineshark Wine Tasting - Domaine Fougeray de Beauclair

It was his grandfather Louis, one of the pioneer of Marsannay rose, who convey to Jean Louis Fougeray his love for wines. In 1978 the family-owned domaine has come to life by the acquisition, and through vineyard rental system, of such renowned appellations like Bonnes Mares. Now, Patrice and Laurence Olivier manage the domaine and 17 hectares of vineyards.

The domaine's philosophy is based on the idea of 'top quality'. This system has made it possible for the different appellations to hold the top ranks among the most famous Burgundian domaines. A good familial management is the key to success, and together to provide an unique 'savoir-faire' which is passed from generation to generation.

The domaine employs such working methods like limited yield, strict sorting of the grapes, vinification under temperature control and maturing in new oak.

The 2015 Marsannay Les Aiges Pruniers has a pale lemon color, with a light nose showing fairly simple aromas of lemon, pear and greengage, honey, almond, saline and cream. On the palate it shows well-balanced, refreshing acidity, on a fairly light body. The flavors are decent in concentration with a stronger bread and yeasty element, finishing with a reasonable length.
