Transportation:
- Take NWFB No. 4 from Central Exchange Square heading for Wah Fu (South), alight at Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road station, then walk up for about 1.8 km to the beginning of Section 2.
- Return by walking down Peel Rise for about 1.2 km to Aberdeen Reservoir Road, then take CityBus No. 7 heading back to Central.
Apart from going up Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road from Pok Fu Lam Road, we took the other way and walk down from the Peak, as it is the easier and slightly shorter path. Arriving at the start of Section 2, this initial trail is concrete road and easy.
Soon you will notice on your left steps leading up, which is well-paved and not difficult, and after this short ascend the trail rejoins a flat concrete road. Along the whole way it is well-shaded and so comfortable but there is not much view to enjoy.
After passing some training stations, soon you will reach the section allowed for horse trotting, but because of earlier typhoons there are many fallen trees blocking the way and waiting to be cleared. Continuing along there are finally some glimpses of the view, seeing Bel-Air and the other buildings, as well as Lamma Island further out.
At this part the trail narrows, with less trees blocking the view on the side. This is the most difficult part of the whole Section 2, allowing only single file with the cliff on the other side without rails, so it can be a bit scary for those afraid of heights.
But seeing the busy Aberdeen area below is also a nice experience, with one walking on the hill overlooking the activities underneath. Here it is also important to practice courtesy, requiring one to stop and let others behind you go first if you are slower or for others coming in opposite direction to proceed while you wait.
Soon after this special section and going down some steps, the trail rejoins a catchwater which is well-paved, flat and easy, enabling one to take a relax finish to the last section. At the end of Section 2 you will reach a nice stream, called 薑花澗, to savor some nice views of the mini falls before ending this hike.
