After a flight of steps you would see the visitor centre, and continue along the path you would start to be on the Pineapple Dam Nature Trail. Taking this route which is along the reservoir, there are good shades but the trail is not paved so would be a bit rough, but they are generally flat.
The trail would go up to rejoin the concrete road. Walking further on you would soon reach a small path which would lead to a section with paperbark trees and a spot overlooking the reservoir closely. A nice place for taking photos and take a rest.
Walking further along the road you would arrive at a junction, with a toilet on the left side. Taking the right side of the branch you would pass the famous Tai Shing Stream, with the road sloping uphill and before long it would join Wilson Trail Section 7.
Taking the left path to continue along Wilson Trail, you would soon reach another junction, and this time one need to take the right path, along the direction of Shing Mun Arboretum. Further along, the road continues to go gradually uphill, which is not too tiring with its small gradient.
Then you would need to turn the right turn to go towards Needle Hill, and you would soon reach MacLehose Trail Section 7. The path turns to downhill and soon arrives at a pavillon with a sighpost showing a path going to Shatin.
Taking that path it becomes a narrow hillside trail which requiring more attention, and then there is a flight of steps on the right, with clear signage showing that it goes down to Shatin MTR station. It is a long flight with more than 1400 steps and fortunately it is all downhill.
Soon you would be able to see the Shatin city below, and finishing the descend take the path to the left, going towards To Fung Shan. Soon the path ends and joins the To Fung Shan Road. At the roundabout there is a path going down to Shatin MTR station.
