This section of Lantau Trial has the distance post from L005 to L017. Starting at Nam Shan Campsite, the initial section is a long walk uphill, though it is not too difficult as the steps are generally not too high and the ascend also gradual.

In about 0.5 km you will reach the helicopter pad, allowing a nice view of Mui Wo in the distance.

Most of this ascend is quite shaded, and only upon nearing the top the trees resided with less sun protection.

After about 3 km of uphill you will arrive at Yi Tung Shan Viewing Point, where in good weather there is a clear view, from the nearby Hei Ling Chau, all the way to Hong Kong Island in the far.

Along the way there are lots of silver grass, and this is one of the best spots to take great photos in autumn.

Continuing along the ridge to Sunset Peak, this is the most comfortable part of the trail. One can also begin to see CLK Airport.

Soon you will begin to see the stone chalets on Sunset Peak, the third highest mountain in HK.

The stone chalets are privately owned and are inhibited, though the owners usually did not stay for very long periods. The effort to build such in this remote location was mind-blowing, especially during the 1920s.

Continuing along the pebbly trail I was fortunate to see the Heaven Lake, a pool in the mountain many hikers fancy to visit.

Soon you will reach Sunset Peak Viewing Point No. 2, again offering a good lookout to Cheung Chau, Lamma Island, and Kowloon.

This part of the trail has many strange rocks, I like the one that looks like a ball and seem on the verge of rolling downhill.

Beginning to descend, the beach of Tong Fuk and the further Soko Islands can be seen.

The descend is probably the most tiring and challenging part, with the small stone steps and other hikers coming up. Looking ahead is the Lantau Peak, the second highest mountain in HK.

After a tiring 1.5 km descend, you will reach the end point of the trail, Pak Kung Au.
