After parking the car at the public car park at Hung Mui Kuk Road and crossing the busy street, there is a flight of steps going up to Hung Mui Kuk BBQ Site. And the trail is actually started here, with clear signs showing the direction.
Very soon you will be submerged in lush vegetation, and on the day there is good cool breeze really signifying the coming of autumn. It is also interesting to hear birdsong on one side while there are busy traffic noise on the other while walking on the trail, really showing how close this trail is to the urban area.
This initial part is mostly stone pavement, easy to walk and mostly flat. But soon the trail begins to go uphill with stone steps, but the climb is not long so it is not tiring. One amazing thing you can find is the weathering breaking up a large rock, with the cleavage as if cut by modern tools. You can also catch the glimpse of the buildings in Shatin between the trees.
There are also some streams along the way, with the water clean and clear, and in no time you will reach the catchment, with the flat and paved path also being part of Wilson Trail Section 5. Reaching the official end of the trail, before walking down the steps back to Hung Mui Kuk BBQ Site, just continue shortly on the catchment and looking back you will see the Amah Rock at the top of the hill.
