- Take green minibus No. 71 from Yuen Long Tai Hang Street heading to Ho Pui Village, alight at the terminus
- Return using the same minibus back to Yuen Long Tai Hang Street
After parking our car at Kam Ho Road, we walked towards Ho Pui Tsuen, along the main road into the village, then continue to head to Ho Pui Reservoir. This section alone is about 2.4 km and is in fact the most tiring part of the trail, as there is no shade on the village road until reaching the part going uphill.
Reaching the starting point of the family walk, we decided to go anti-clockwise, beginning from the right path. This whole trail is walking around the reservoir, all flat and on well-kept path, so it is very easy and suitable for all ages.
You can catch good glimpses of the reservoir along the way, with a quiet and tranquility that is really beautiful. The water from the reservoir is used now for irrigation only. There is no detour and one just need to follow the trail and will arrive back at the dam of the reservoir.
With good rainfall in the last few days, the reservoir was full and on the day we also saw the water overflowing to the reception below the dam. Another interesting note is the S-shaped dam, which is pretty unique in the design.
One the way downhill back to Ho Pui Tsuen you can also stop by HKFYG Organic Farm to buy some vegetables to bring back home, completing a nice exercise and also cooking some healthy food for dinner.
