Wineshark Vacation - Syokuraku Kitchen 食楽キッチン (Atami)

This eatery has two stores in Atami, and is renown for using fresh, high quality seafood coming from Sagami Bay. The chef purchases the seafood from the ports of Atami, Odawara and Namazu to get the best ingredients. Even the vegetables are organic and come from Saitama.

As it was already lunch time when we arrived the city, we proceeded to the outlet in Ginza-cho, just a few shops away from where we parked. Rather small and family-style, the whole restaurant can accommodate only 20 customers.

I ordered the most popular Seafood Don, which got different types of sashimi on top, and it also included the local delicacy White Bait (or Shirasu) too. With the whole bowl fully covered with the fresh and wonderful seafood it costs only a very reasonable 1,600 yen each.

My wife had the Grilled Sliced Pork with Rice which I tasted and was equally good. The smoky charcoal-grilled pork got a nice aroma while retaining the juicy and moist texture. But my parents preferred the Braised Fish Head with Rice with its richer taste.

The bill for the lunch was 6,000 yen, which was phenomenally great in value. If you look for a casual and family-style eatery in Atami and want to experience really fresh seafood don, this is my recommendation.
