After completing the HK Trail, I decided to continue to Lantau Trail. Decided to start with the easier section, I picked Section 4, beginning at Ngong Ping. First you need to walk towards Wisdom Path, which is also the beginning of this section, and you can find the marker L027.
Arriving at the junction and turning left to continue uphill, you will be going up Nei Lak Shan. It is not too difficult but there are also no shades so in summer it can be quite draining. But very soon the trail flattens and also with more shades, making it a comfortable stroll.
Along this part of the trail you get to see the Ngong Ping village and Tian Tan Buddha in the distance. With spring in the season there are also some flowers on the trees, and further on you can also see the HK Zhuhai Macau Bridge. Seeing not even a single car during the time, I cannot help to wonder what sort of genius make the decision and on what basis they make those.
Descending on some rough stone stairs the trail goes to the well-paved section, which kind of runs in parallel to the Ngong Ping Rescue Path. This section I can imagine will be quite slippery during wet weather because of the way they pave. So one needs to pay attention coming during those days.
Finishing this part you will return to Ngong Ping, and continue along the main street in the village, you will arrive at the drop-off from the bus, and this time turning down Ngong Ping Road to walk downhill, you will soon see the Sewage Treatment Plant on the right.
Further down there is a pavilion on the left, and stopping there one can take a good look at Shek Pik Reservoir. Then continue on the road it winds down to Sham Wat Road, where there is another pavilion which seems to be abandoned and without maintenance.
